In celebration of the International Day of Peace, the Centre des arts has partnered with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to highlight the ways in which art can have a social impact. Barbara Hendricks, world renowned classical singer and UNHCR’s Honorary Lifetime Goodwill Ambassador, accompanied by Ulf England, and internationally acclaimed pianists Mookie Lee-Menuhin and Jeremy Menuhin, will perform in homage to all people forced to flee their homes.
The concert will be followed by a round table discussion on the topic of “art for social impact” during which contributors will share their experience, values, objectives and thoughts on peace, the environment, refugees, and the many other social causes which art can lend its voice to. Moderated by Cristina Davies (UNHCR), the panel will include Barbara Hendricks, artist Michelangelo Pistoletto (Fondazione Pistoletto), Takuya Kaneda (Kids’ Guernica), Vanessa Von Richter (Anouk Foundation, co-director) and Constant Bonard (researcher at the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences, University of Geneva).
