Museums for kids during lockdown

Schools in Geneva have closed in response to COVID-19, leaving parents and caregivers scrambling to find daily activities for their children. It is hard to be a parent, an entertainer and a teacher at the same time. We all are in the same boat. I would like to share with you online activities offered by museums in Geneva. You will enjoy them no matter if your kids are frequent visitors or not.

Musée Ariana usually offers amazing monthly workshop for children and their parents. Now that the museum is closed, your child can still build a glorious building, colour a house, or even fold origami :

Kids of all ages love drawing, painting, and expressing their creativity in a variety of ways. The Musée d’art et d’histoire has templates for colouring and games on their web site’s homepage. Your child can then explore the highlights of the museum :

Get a doze of science with the Musée d’histoire des sciences. Check their list of detailed guidelines for at-home-experiments (mostly physics) :

I also highly recommend their YouTube channel, with short videos about each object in the museum.

Keep young minds energised in a low-stakes environment – no grades, no pressure, just fun and learning with the Musée d’histoire naturelle.

They have a website with all their research : https://museumlab-geneve.ch/

It is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Have a look at their Youtube channel if you’d like content on animals, starting from dinosaurs.

I’m sure we are all looking forward for museums to reopen on the 8th of June. There will be new restrictions for visitors but at least we’ll enjoy experiencing what only museums can offer. I wish you good health and amazing time with your kids!
